About Us
The Global Materials Group was established by a group of construction and public works executives, spearheaded by Mark Gray and Chuck O’Brien. Today members represent contractors and public works organizations of all sizes throughout the U.S. and Canada and is a valuable resource for knowledge, best practices and construction materials purchasing strategies.
The Global Materials Group was organized for following purposes:
- To form a cohesive non-profit cooperative purchasing organization for leveraging the power of large group purchasing
- To aggregate buying power in order to obtain discounts from manufacturers and distributors
- To facilitate and enhance comprehensive product comparison analysis, thereby reducing the inefficiencies inherent in today’s construction purchasing systems
- To offer valuable cost avoidance strategies for streamlining and standardizing the construction purchasing process
- To promote the study, development and application of improved purchasing methods, practices and techniques in the construction industry
- To foster and promote the interchange of ideas and cooperation among its members
- To collect and disseminate information of interest and benefit to its membership
- To encourage and cooperate in the institution of ethical standards in buying and selling
- To strive by all legitimate means to advance the construction purchasing profession within the industry through educational programs
- To be irrevocably dedicated to, and to be operated exclusively for, non-profit purposes.
Since it's inception, the organization has strived to be a proactive resource for it's members and provide an opportunity for construction professionals to share knowledge, leverage the collective skills and talents plus serve as a conduit for professional development.
Our members come from broad and diverse backgrounds and form strong bonds that benefit the members professionally and personally. Our web site, annual conference and committee meetings help members stay in contact and exchange ideas.
